Treatments
A massage as individual as you are
Our multi-skilled massage specialists will assess your individual needs and wants and then use a blend of the following different skills and techniques:
Remedial Massage
Manipulation of the body muscles, fascia, tendons and ligaments. Relieves pain and injury using a variety of techniques.
Swedish Massage
This smoother, more flowing massage detoxifies the body and is great for those just wanting to let go and relax.
Heated Stone Massage**
Heated smooth flat stones are place on key points of the body inducing a deeply relaxing effect.
Lymphatic Drainage
A gently tactile therapy for treating the body where excessive amounts of fluid have built up causing swelling.
Reflexology
A combination of pressure techniques is used on parts of the feet which reflect different parts of the body to address imbalances in the mind and body.
Deep Tissue Massage
Little or no oils are used to gain access to the deeper muscular and fascial structures. This is the massage where you can really feel the therapists working hard.
Sports Massage
Nothing beats a great massage after a serious workout (or swim!). Sports massage also prevents injuries, repairs damage and speeds recovery.
Trigger Point Therapy
Sustained pressure is applied to "knots" in the muscles to alleviate tension and referred pain from that muscle. So, although you may feel the pressure, you know you are being smoothed out.
Pregnancy Massage
For pregnant women and new mums. We give special attention to areas such as the lower back, legs and feet which can suffer during pregnancy. Sadly though, we can't help you with the lack of sleep and all those nappies!

Acupuncture
Acupuncture is the main therapy from the Traditional Chinese Medical health care system. It involves the insertion of disposable needles into energetic meeting points along the body's surface with the aim of regulating the flow of energy, restoring natural balance and optimum health. It is a powerful, drug-free agent used for a broad variety of conditions, including pain, emotional imbalance, reproductive issues, sleep disorders, digestive health and improving vitality and longevity. Acupuncture and herbal medicine treat not only the presenting symptoms but also the underlying root cause of disharmony. It is a common experience that when using Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) to target a particular health problem, other seemingly unrelated symptoms improve and the whole body is strengthened, bringing health to new heights. An acupuncture session at Massage by the Sea may also incorporate cupping (vacuum massage), moxibustion (heating) therapy or the prescription of Chinese herbs, all depending on your needs.

The benefits of massage
The most obvious benefits of massage are increased circulation, increased flexibility and a feeling of well being.
Each individual receives his or her own unique benefits based on the type of massage received and the presenting conditions.
Of course if you are simply looking for a peaceful, relaxing, gentle massage while you enjoy the sounds and scents of the ocean air mingling in with our natural oils, then simply relax and lap it up at Wylie's.
Lessen the impacts of Aging
Massage aids lubrication between muscle fibers which in turn keeps muscles and tissue better hydrated. Aging is largely a process of dehydration. Drinking lots of water and having regular massage is a great way to reduce wrinkles.
Reduced Anxiety and Depression
Many studies have reported reduced anxiety and feelings of depression with
regular massage therapy. From a psychological point of view, massage creates
sense of being cared for, of being nurtured.
Touch connects one person to another and the feelings shared are healing
and energizing emotionally. Safe touch is an important part of life.
Massage by a responsible professional is a relaxing way to enjoy safe touch.
Reduction of Cellulite
Massage can reduce the appearance of unwanted cellulite areas.
Improved Circulation
Circulation of blood and lymph are generally improved. This helps your body to eliminate toxins and promotes healthy bodily function.
Improved Flexibility
Massage can enhance tissue connectivity and flexibility and help increase the range of movement in your joints.
Better Performance
Anyone who wants to be better in their sport, work or academically can benefit from massage therapy.
Sports Massage can reduce recovery time, help prevent injury, and speed up healing of injuries.
All massage gives one a feeling of comfort and relaxation, like a mini vacation from the pressures of life. This relaxed state lasts longer as the cumulative benefits of more massage at regular intervals are experienced.
Improved Posture
Massage therapy can improve your posture by releasing muscles and connective tissues that lead to poor posture.
A More Comfortable Pregnancy
Any mother who received approriate massage therapy during her pregnancy can tell you that there's nothing better! Massage from a qualified professional during pregnancy is safe and effective in relieving the aches and pains that often accompany the changes in the body.
Makes a great gift for expecting mothers!
Stress Reduction
Massage therapy is a great way to reduce the stress in your life.
Not only are the physical effects very soothing, there is often reduced
anxiety and increased feelings of well being.
Pain Relief
Muscular aches and pains, some joint pains, and some types of pinched nerves are often reduced or eliminated through massage therapy. Even those with chronic pain may get the benefit of long-lasting relief.
Pain management and relief from conditions such as chronic low back pain, neck and shoulder pain, fibromyalgia, lupus, myofascial pain syndrome, migraines and other headaches, sciatica, repetitive strain injury (RSI), carpal tunnel syndrome, whiplash, and arthritis is common.
Better Sleep
Many people sleep more restfully after receiving massage therapy. The benefit often continues several days after receiving massage therapy.
Less Soreness
Muscle soreness resulting from physical activities, whether these be long term or just a big day out can be decreased with massage.
