Kahuna bodywork is an ancient massage style, which originated in the south pacific islands. It follows a holistic approach to healing, and incorporates work on physical, emotional and spiritual dimensions.
Kahuna bodywork has positive effects on all body systems, improves flexibility, increases injury healing, helps to release emotions, balances body and mind, decreases stress manifestations, and helps to reach clarity, self-awareness, confidence and joy.
During the treatment the practitioner applies the massage with long, flowing strokes of hands, forearms, and elbows while moving around the table. Each treatment includes soft and deep tissue pressure combined with under-body work.
Often the practitioner will take audible breaths throughout the treatment, and clients are encouraged to follow this example. Combined with the dance-like moves that the practitioner follows, the breathing is part of gaining and moving energy through the client’s body to achieve a harmonised and balanced energy flow.
As Kahuna is a powerful form of healing, the client might experience a range of emotions in the days following the massage. Clients are encouraged to be mindful and gentle with themselves during this time.
