Massage Therapy
Massage therapy is the practice of manipulating a person’s muscles and other soft tissue to improve their health and wellbeing. The term ‘massage therapy’ is used to describe a variety of manual techniques and covers a wide range of modalities or massage styles. If you are not sure which massage is best for you, choose remedial massage which is the standard Western therapeutic massage modality. Our multi-skilled therapists will discuss your massage needs with you at your appointment and tailor your massage to suit.
Remedial massage
This massage is an excellent therapy for muscular tension or injury from stress, poor posture or any prolonged or repetitive activity such office works or sport. The body muscles, fascia, tendons and ligaments are manipulated to relieve pain and injury. Remedial massage techniques include deep tissue massage, trigger point therapy, myofascial release and PNF Stretching. Our experienced therapists will tailor your massage to address your individual needs. |
Relaxation Massage
In this treatment we use our relaxation aromatherapy oil blend and specific remedial massage techniques to relax the muscles and calm the nervous system, thereby aiding in reversing the stress response. Massage also prompts the release of endorphins, the brain chemicals that produce feelings of well-being, leaving you with a feeling of deep relaxation and calm. |
Sports massage
Sports Massage in essence is a remedial massage tailored around a client and their training program. Sports massage can be used for pre and post event treatment to help prevent injury, repair damage and speed recovery. It is not just for athletes but anyone feeling the effects of a physical workout be it a soccer match or weekend bushwalk! The treatment will often include PNF stretching to help release contracted muscles. |
Pregnancy massage
With extensive body changes and extra tension in the musculo-skeletal system, caused by hormones and a shift in your centre of gravity, regular massage often makes for a much more comfortable and enjoyable pregnancy. Pregnancy Massage is beneficial at all stages of pregnancy from 0 to 40+ weeks. Please let us know on booking how many weeks pregnant you are and whether you would prefer to be face down on our pregnancy table top or in the side-lying position. The first 13 weeks is booked as a First Trimester Pregnancy Massage and a consent form is required to be signed. |
Couple’s massage
This massage is very popular on Valentine’s Day and other special occasions! Experience the benefits of massage with your loved one or friend in our beautiful couples massage room. When you receive a great massage, your body releases oxytocin, the “love hormone” that creates a sense of affection and love. That means love is literally in the air (and the bloodstream). Increased affection is one of the biggest benefits of a couples massage. A couples massage is also a great way to bond with a family member or friend. |
Magnesium Oil Massage
Trans-dermal (through the skin) magnesium therapy has shown to be effective as it is absorbed straight into the body’s cells and tissues and raises magnesium levels in the body over a shorter amount of time. Trans-dermal magnesium massage enhances tissue recovery, reduces pain, improves tendon and ligament flexibility, and helps break down inflammation therefore easing muscle cramps and spasms. Magnesium oil also has the effect of calming the nervous system and promoting relaxation of the muscles. |
Remedial massage with dry needling
Dry needling is an effective technique for the treatment of muscular pain by relaxing overactive muscles. The practice of ‘dry needling’ involves inserting an acupuncture needle into a trigger point and is typically used to treat the pain associated with injuries or muscular pain. Dry needling is increasingly used in the management of musculoskeletal and sports injuries. It can be used for a variety of medical conditions including but not limited to shoulder pain (rotator cuff), arm pain (tennis elbow, golfer’s elbow, carpal tunnel), buttock, groin, hip and leg pain (sciatica, hamstrings strains, calf tightness/spasms) and knee pain (osteoarthritis). |
Hot Stone massage
A combination of remedial and Swedish massage incorporating the use of heated smooth flat stones placed on key points of the body and used with oil to massage the body. The combination of the heat from the stones and massage gets deep into the muscles inducing a deeply relaxing effect. 90 minutes is recommended. |
Lymphatic Drainage
Lymphatic drainage is a type of gentle massage aimed at promoting the movement of lymph fluids around the body. This technique can offer several benefits, including: Reducing Swelling and Oedema: By helping to move excess fluid out of tissues, it can reduce swelling, particularly after surgery or injury. Improving Immune Function: The lymphatic system plays a crucial role in immune function by transporting white blood cells and other immune components throughout the body. Detoxification: It can aid in removing toxins and waste products from the tissues, potentially improving overall health. Promoting Relaxation and Stress Relief: The gentle, rhythmic nature of the massage can be deeply relaxing, reducing stress and its negative impacts on the body. Enhancing Skin Health: Improved lymph flow can help reduce acne, puffiness, and other skin conditions by removing toxins and improving circulation. Supporting a Leaner Appearance: By promoting the removal of excess fluid and toxins, lymphatic drainage can help reduce bloating and water retention, leading to a more toned and defined look. |
